About the author:

Josh Williams is a full time student and fencer.  He is currently attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana for computer science, and is attempting to pursue a second bachelor’s degree in arts for Linguistics.  In the past, he attended Ball State University in Muncie, IN and Lafayette Jefferson High School.  Blogging since 2007, Williams wrote, coded, and edited on a mid-2008 MacBook Pro until its logic board failed late Spring 2010.  Currently he is writing from a Samsung n130 Netbook.  He is an avid user of Google products, loving his Motorola Droid.  In the browser wars, he’s sided with Firefox on the MBP but Chrome on the netbook.

Williams is a D2010 foilist, a D2008 épéeist, and an E2009 sabreuist with referee ratings of 6 in all three weapons entering into his 7th year of fencing.  In the past he has fenced for and coached at River City Fencing and the Lafayette Area Fencing Alliance.  He is currently the Captain of the Men’s Foil Squad of the Purdue Fencing Club and trains with his coach, Mark Smith, and the rest of the Purdue Fencing Team.  Williams referees actively in the Indiana area and Great Lakes Section (feel free to contact him if you would like to have him referee at your event).

In addition to fencing, Josh is also a juggler.  He juggles bags, balls, clubs, and devil stick, and participates in contact juggling and poi.

Williams was also a writer, film director & editor.  He started a short lived tech blog in 2008 called Neutron Dawn with two old friends and classmates and produced a number of short films while working with Jefferson High School’s radio-television crew.  He served as a morning show host and assistant program director for the radio station Jeff 92 between 2007 -2008.

Between school years, Williams has had a varied experience working as a farmhand on an organic farm, a carpet cleaning assistant/assistant trainer for an international carpet cleaning company and currently is employed at Purdue University as an electrician’s assistant with the maintenance department for the summer.

He likes to listen to Oldies music, alternative rock and techno. Among his favorite films are the Dark Knight and Serenity.  His favorite books include How to Win Friends and Influence People, and the Chronicles of Narnia.
